| 18th Century French Silk Brocade Church Chausuble The fabric used in this piece is French silk brocade of botanical designs. Silver metalic thread was used along with other colored threads. This piece has been carefully repaired over the years. It may even have been made from another garment because there are unusual remnants of metalic trim sewn into the edges along the top. The silk brocade is trimmed in a lovely woven gold metalic ribbon perhaps of a later date than the fabric. The silk fabric has deteriorated in some areas revealing some of the inner layers. The piece measures 16 1/2 inches wide at the top, 22 1/2 inches wide at the bottom and 29 1/2 inches long. Item #: text002 $395 |
