Early 20th C. French Jacquard-Woven Brocade Piano Shawl

This is an very interesting piece. It is woven with gold-wrapped thread brocade throughout the entire piece and so has a nice heaviness to it. The design is created with a combination of gold brocade and printed color on a cream colored ground. The woven area is 54 inches square and the fringe is 9 inches long. The design is an 8-ponted star radiated out from the center surrounded by various feather-like designs. It was probably made in the 1920's to 1930's.
